Gazelle Seal Charm Necklace

The Gazelle Seal was a two-sided stone seal. The name of the seal's owner, which was completely worn away, appears on one side, and a figure of a gazelle with horns, its head raised and facing right, appears on the other. The seal was used to close documents to ensure privacy between sender and recipient. The bulla (seal impression) was created by pressing the seal into soft clay. The seal was discovered during sifting of earth from the Temple Mount at Emek Tzurim National Park on the Mount of Olives. It is dated to the mid-First Temple period, the eight or seventh century BCE
