The pendant is made from 9K gold and is set with freshwater pearls and agate stones. The pearl pendant’s design is reminiscent of the pearl earring uncovered in excavations in the City of David. It was hidden for 2,000 years inside a building from the Byzantine period which is attributed to the family of Queen Helene of Adiabene. The building may have even belonged to Queen Helene herself, as it was built in the first century CE, the same time in which she lived in Jerusalem and was active in Jewish life.
