Star of Solomon
A pentagram, or five-pointed star consisting of five identical triangles, was known in Jewish traditionas the Seal of Solomon or the Star of Solomon. It was one of the main symbols of Jerusalem from 300 to 150 BCE - the mid-Second Temple peroid, known as the Hasmonean period.
Pentagrams have been found impressed into handkes and jars, surrounded by the Hebrew letters signifying j, r, s, l, m - Jerusalem. Among the many that have been retrieved from sites thoroughout the city, one came to light during sifting of earth from Temple Mount at Emek Tsurim National Park on the Mount of Olives
