freedom of zion coin

Inspired by the famous coins minted during the Jewish revolt against the Roman Empire, this beautiful necklace reflects the spirit of the revolt, and of the Jewish nation overtime. The coin-shaped amulet features a grape leaf on one side, with an inscription of the phrase 'Freedom of Zion' in Hebrew. The other side features a goblet and the words 'Year 2' in ancient Hebrew, which mark the years 67/68 CE, the second year of the Great Revolt.

The coin design is inspired by a coin found at the archeological sifting project of the Temple Mount at the Emek Tzurim National Park on the mount of Olives. The circle surrounding the coin amulet is made of roman glass fragment which originated from glass vessels from the Roman period, creating a wholesome, valuable piece. Similar coins were also discovered at the Shiloach Pool excavations at the City of David.

    An Inextinguishable Freedom

I was not aware of the Freedom of Zion Coin until this week. It is a cherished expression of freedom, one that is precious beyond words, and which resonates deeply within my heart. The symbolism at once reminds me of an unending oil lamp, the cup of David of Psalm 23:5 and one of the most important biblical passages in my life, regarding the light of the "lamp that burneth" in Isaiah 62:1. The shared values of freedom between Israel and the U.S. are likewise inextinguishable. 1948 and 1776 have a special affinity. Perhaps Isaiah was referring to a lamp of freedom realized. The State of Israel is that realization, and the Freedom of Zion Coin is a beautiful remembrance of Israel's thousands of years of inextinguishable devotion to freedom.
