A decorative harp inspired by King David’s lyre, crafted from olive wood and infused with turquoise-tone epoxy. The piece features delicate strings, the City of David emblem, and an authentic “Half Shekel” coin.
The coin, valued at half a shekel, served as a mandatory contribution to the Temple, symbolizing equal participation from both poor and wealthy alike. One side depicts a branch with three pomegranates and the inscription in ancient Hebrew script: Yerushalem Kedosha (Holy Jerusalem). The reverse bears the inscription Half Shekel. The coin was discovered during the sifting of earth originating from the Temple Mount.
The design draws inspiration from the biblical harp of King David, a timeless emblem of music, spirit, and connection to Jerusalem.
